Hi, I’m Kate — though some people call me Gigglz (because I laugh… a lot!) or Shorty (self-explanatory, really). I’m the celebrant, MC, and all-round wedding wingwoman behind Ready Set Love.
I’m here to make sure your ceremony feels exactly like you — fun, meaningful, and stress-free. Whether you want relaxed and intimate, bold and loud, or something a little quirky in between, I’ll help craft a celebration that fits.
A Little About Me (fun facts!)
- You may have seen me on TV or in the news — my husband and I built the first residentially approved earthbag dome house in Australia. (We’re not afraid of thinking outside the box or doing the hard yards!)
- Outside of weddings, I’m a hobby farmer, avid reader, puzzle-lover, and a big fan of camping trips.
- My animals keep me busy and happy — dogs, chooks, goats, guinea pigs — it’s a bit of a farmyard circus, and I wouldn’t have life any other way.
- My hubby is a beekeeper and chocolatier — that’s where our other business, The Gourmet Bee, was born (honey and chocolates as wedding favours? Yes, please!).
The Celebrant with a Planner’s Brain
By day, I also work in safety and risk compliance — which basically means if anyone is going to think through Plans A, B, C, and D… it’s me.
- I know what works, what can go wrong, and how to prevent or adapt if it happens.
- I plan for everything so you can be stress-free knowing I’ve got it covered.
- I even have backups to the backups — because your wedding day deserves nothing less.
Why Couples Choose Me
I’m not the “made-up, fancy celebrant” who treats your ceremony like a fashion show — I’m the down-to-earth celebrant who keeps the focus right where it should be: on you as a couple.
That’s why you’ll often find I’m not in half the photos — because in ten years’ time, you’re not going to remember me, you’ll remember the two of you and the love you shared on your big day. My role is to quietly make sure everything flows while you shine.
I’m like that honest, grounded bestie who’ll chat with you about the things that “might go another way” — not to stress you out, but so we can plan for them and make sure nothing catches you by surprise. I think about the “what ifs” so you don’t have to, and I work those into the process to keep you calm and confident.
I’ll ask about your colours and style so that what I wear complements your vision, not competes with it. I want to look the part, but never take over — it’s you two who should stand out, not me.
But — if you love colour as much as I do, or want me to wear a costume to fit your theme, let’s do it! I’m honestly up for any fun, as long as it works for the two of you.
Couples also come to me as an ideas person. I’m full of suggestions on how to make your ceremony unique — from personalised vow cards and custom keepsake certificates (perfect for blended families and kids) to livestreaming your ceremony, QR codes for photo sharing, or brainstorming budget-friendly ways to make the day magical.
And yes — I walk the talk. My hubby Scott and I pulled off our own wedding for about $1200 for 75 people, including the dress! Adjusted for today, that’s more like $3000–$5000 — still proof that you can have a meaningful, beautiful wedding without spending a fortune.
So, stop scratching your head, getting frustrated, and going “what the heck do I do here?”. Just email me or book a time to chat, and we’ll work it out together — keeping things moving smoothly every step of the way.
